You no longer have to “want to believe”. Thanks to the growing popularity of the show through Netflix and the growing love for all things 90’s in current pop culture, it has now been confirmed that the hit science fiction tv show is returning after 13 years to Fox for a full six episodes, planned to tell a new arch in the grand adventures of the strange and unexplainable with Mulder and Scully.
In the wake of the awful The X-Files: I Want To Believe, it’s beyond a relief to see them getting a new light to go out on top, in my opinion, the mini-archs that usually take place over six episodes are by far the best episodes and stories X-Files has to offer.
“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” says creator Chris Carter, who is also back for the new show. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
No confirmation has been made yet on when it will arrive on this planet, but I’ll wait patiently with reruns until then.
